Ziegfeld took another step toward a potential Group 1 target when she resumed in fine style at Taupo this afternoon.

Our trainer Lance Noble has been patient with this filly, who was a debut winner at her only appearance last season and was then put away to continue her development.

She was given a couple of quiet trials to have her ready to resume over 1300 metres and sat in second spot to the turn before rider Sam Collett asked her to lengthen stride and they quickly put the issue beyond doubt.

Ziegfeld holds a nomination for the G1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas and is giving every indication she is a black-type winner in waiting.

By Teofilo, she is a daughter of the Danehill Dancer mare Sussex Dancer who is doing a fine job for us with all seven of her foals to race successful and includes the Group 3-placed pair of Reeverderci and Meghan.

Sussex Dancer foaled an Almanzor filly in 2020 and her colt by our young shuttle stallion made $180,000 at Karaka earlier this year. The mare is due to foal to Ribchester this season.
