Smart ride gets Habana home3 Dec 2022

It was satisfying to see Habana return to winning ways over 1400 metres at Pukekohe under a cool ride from Warren Kennedy.

Our lightly tried son of Zoustar settled three back on the rail before the multiple Group 1-winning South African jockey eased off the fence before the turn and finished determinedly to account for their Rating 75 rivals.

Habana won twice from Tony Pike’s stable before we had to make the decision to geld him and the quirky, but talented four-year-old has appreciated the quieter surroundings at our Karaka training facility with Lance Noble.

A private purchase out of the trials, he is a son of the Mossman mare Jeter, who won on four occasions and finished fourth in the G1 Schweppes Oaks.

Habana continued a fine run of form for the Noble stable which has now accumulated eight wins from just 35 runners this season.
