Versilia crowned the bright start she has made to her career with a runaway breakthrough victory at Pakenham.

Trained for us by Danny O’Brien, the daughter of Snitzel had posted consecutive runner-up finishes before she her maiden tag in style.

“After that, you would think she will win a few more. She’s doing everything right and had been knocking on the door,” stable representative Luke Wilkinson said.

Versilia left the gates quickly to make the running and kicked strongly with 250 metres to run to coast home by 2.5l.

“That was pretty straight forward and she’s a really nice mare,” successful rider Ben Melham said.

“With the application of blinkers, she bowled along and it was a nice win.”

Versilia is out of the three-time winner Belle De Coeur, a Show A Heart mare who was also placed at Group 2 and 3 level, and she is from the family of the Karaka Million winner Fort Lincoln and the G2 Matamata Breeders’ Stakes winner Flying Babe.

We purchased Versilia out of Amarina Farm’s draft at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for A$350,000.
