Son of Galileo leads Second Season GB List

20 May 2013

New Approach, who like Cambridge Stud’s shuttler Cape Blanco is a son of Galileo, is stamping himself as an outstanding young sire in the Northern Hemisphere.

Not only was he Great Britain’s Champion First Season Sire of 2012, he’s continued straight on with the work in the new season and currently leads the GB Second Season Sire List.  What’s more, he sits in second position (behind former Cambridge Stud shuttler Cape Cross) on the overall Great Britain 2013 Stallion Premiership.

New Approach (Galileo ex Park Express, by Ahonoora) has sired 7 individual winners in the 2013 Northern Hemisphere season to date, the stand-out performer being Dawn Approach who returned to racing with a dominant 5 length victory in the Two Thousand Guineas-Gr.1 (1m), 04 May.  Last season Dawn Approach was unbeaten in 6 starts inclusive of Group One victories in the Curragh National Stakes and Newmarket Dewhurst Stakes.

New Approach and Cape Blanco have more than one thing in common.  Not only are they both by Champion Sire Galileo, but each of them recorded 5 Group One victories on the track before being retired to stud.

Cape Blanco covered an initial book of 135 mares at Cambridge Stud last year and returns for 2013 at the same fee of $20,000 + gst (LFG).
