Teofilo, like Cape Blanco a sire-son of the world’s greatest stallion Galileo, is in the news again after siring his third Group One winner, this calendar year in the Northern Hemisphere.

The latest result for Teofilo came yesterday when Voleuse de Coeurs (filly ex Vadorga, by Grand Lodge) took out the Irish St Leger-Gr.1 (15.5 furlongs) at The Curragh.

The first Group One winner for Teofilo in 2013 was Trading Leather’s (colt ex Night Visit, by Sinndar) victory in the The Curragh Irish Derby-Gr.1 (13.25 furlongs), 29 June.  A day later Teofilo struck again with Havana Gold (colt ex Jessica’s Dream, by Desert Style) on top in the Chantilly Prix Jean Prat-Gr.1 (1600m).

Teofilo now edges ahead of fellow Galileo sire-son New Approach on the score of individual Group One winners in 2013.  New Approach (ex Park Express, by Ahonoora) has had two Group One winners this year, namely Dawn Approach (Newmarket 2000 Guineas & Royal Ascot St James’s Palace Stakes) and Talent (Epsom The Oaks).

By comparison, Galileo himself has sired five individual Group One winners so far in 2013, as follows

* Intello (Chantilly Prix du Jockey Club)

* Ruler of the World (Epsom The Derby)

* Magician (Curragh Irish 2000 Guineas)

* Romantica (Deauville Prix Jean Romanet)

* Linton (BRC Stradbroke Handicap)
