Sophisticardo sizzles at Taupo6 Oct 2021

Sophisticardo put in a terrific performance at Taupo this afternoon to post his second career victory from a handful of starts.

The Jamie Richards-trained three-year-old son of the late Burgundy went back to second last from the outside gate before rider Danielle Johnson urged him forward around runners across the top.

Sophisiticardo was the widest runner into the straight and he thundered home to score by a neck with an effort that augured well for the remainder of his preparation.

He was purchased by Te Akau’s David Ellis for $30,000 from our yearling draft at Karaka and is a daughter of the G3 Desert Gold Stakes winner Glamourous Girl. She has a 100 per cent record at stud for us with all seven of her foals to race successful.

The daughter of Thorn Park is a half-sister to the Listed Pegasus Stakes winner So Elusive and since Sophisticardo has produced a Tavistock colt catalogued in New Zealand Bloodstock's Ready to Run Sale in November, an Eminent filly and is visiting Embellish this season.
