Well-related filly Avadane has earned a return to stakes racing with her latest success at Ellerslie this afternoon.

Raced in the Cambridge Stud colours, the three-year-old won for the third time when victorious in the Stella Artois 1200.

The Lance Noble-trained Avadane sat at the back of the small field before rider Leith Innes cut loose across the top.

They were widest into the straight and the daughter of Savabeel rounded off strongly in the run home.

“It all panned out really well. There was good tempo and she relaxed well,” Noble said.

“I couldn’t be happier with the way things are going and she’ll go to the Mufhasa Stakes on Derby Day now.

“She’s a bit unusual in that the rest of the family stay and she’s a sprinter.”

Avadane is a daughter of the Group One performer J’Adane, a daughter of Danehill.

She is also the dam of Von Tunzelman, Prince Jabeel and Sherrif, all Group Three middle distance winners.
