The well-related Star Stock showed impressive improvement on his first-up effort to run his rivals ragged at Moe.

The son of the late Tavistock had finished midfield when he resumed off a five-month break over a middle distance on the course last month and understandably stripped fitter for the outing.

The Tori Madigan-trained Star Stock was taken straight to the front by rider Brian Higgins and travelled easily before increasing the tempo near the turn.

The five-year-old held a strong gallop in the straight to see out the 2447 metres too well for his opposition.

Originally purchased out of our class of 2018 at Karaka by Busuttin Racing for $160,000, Star Stock is a brother to the dual Group 3 winner Tralee Rose.

They are out of the Zabeel mare Star Of Tralee, who won on two occasions and was stake placed in the New Zealand St Leger.

Star of Tralee is a half-sister to the three-time Group 1 winner Serenade Rose with dual elite level winner Trekking and Egot, a dual Group 3 winner in France also members of the family.
