Not An Option bounced back to top form at Flemington where he showed his appreciation of the good surface.

The talented son of Not A Single Doubt carried our colours to a decisive victory over 1400 metres, his second over the course and distance, after an unplaced outing on rain-affected going in the G1 Goodwood Handicap at Morphettville.

“He didn’t handle the soft track and he’s up to winning some nice races, but he hasn’t had a lot of luck,” trainer Michael Moroney said.

Not An Option was given a sweet run in the trail by Patrick Moloney and, once into the clear 300 metres from home, he lengthened stride powerfully to win for the sixth time in his career.

“He won with a bit in hand and he’s been up for a little while now so we’ll wait and see what we do,” Moroney said.

The Listed Winter Championship Final over 1600 metres at Flemington on July 1 might be a possible target.
“He was placed over a mile before I got him,” Moroney said.

He was a $240,000 Karaka graduate and we joined the ownership group with Not An Option winning the G2 Wakefield Challenge Stakes from Tony Pike’s stable before a brief stint with Michael and Richard Freedman.

He then joined Moroney’s stable and has won three times for the Flemington trainer, including last season’s Listed Hareeba Stakes at Mornington.
