Strongbow broke his maiden in fine style at the Gold Coast this afternoon and the lightly raced three-year-old certainly looks to have the ability to advance to a higher grade in quick time.
Our congratulations go to Albert Bosma’s Go Racing syndication company who purchased the homebred son of Tarzino out of our draft at last year’s New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale for $130,000.
The Chris Waller-prepared Strongbow finished runner-up at Eagle Farm in his November debut before a below par performance, but he turned his form around today with an effort that bodes well for his future.
He was quickly into stride to trail the leader and rider Brad Pengelly angled the gelding into the clear before the turn and brought him down the outside with a well-timed run to win with authority.
Strongbow is the third winner for the unraced Encosta De Lago mare Spring Venture, who is a daughter of the G2 Waikato Cup winner Lovetrista and they hail from the potent Eight Carat family.
Spring Venture's final produce is a yearling filly by Embellish.
