A fresh Ayahuasca crowned a grand day for her dam when she had no trouble justifying her favouritism at Doomben for a winning trans-Tasman family double.

The homebred Tavistock mare is a half-sister to smart Rotorua winner Devildom and their proud as punch dam Sussex Dancer remains in our broodmare paddock and in foal to resident stallion Embellish.

We bought the daughter of Danehill Dancer at the Tattersalls Mares Sale back in 2009 and she has done an outstanding job with a 100 percent record at stud.

All eight of her foals to race have been successful, including black type performers Reeverderci and Meghan.

Ayahuasca was a $110,000 Karaka buy for agent John Foote and won two races from the Victorian stable of Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr before relocating to Queensland.

The five-year-old was sent out favourite at Doomben over 1350 metres in her first appearance from Tony Gollan’s yard off the back of two trial placings.

She led early before settling second spot for rider Ryan Maloney and let down impressively to win by 1.5l.
