Talented colt Lassaut completed an impressive winning double at Chantilly this week for Almanzor when he produced a stirring display to open his account over 1600 metres.

The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained three-year-old, who was third on debut at Deauville in December, was tardily away and settled last under rider Simon Planque and still had all the field in front of him turning for home.

However, when angled wide he thundered home to win going away by a length and a performance that strongly suggested he is capable of making his mark in stronger age group company.

Lassaut is a son of the unraced Sinnbar mare Lady Family and a pedigree that features the multiple Group One winners Flotilla and Lethal Force.

His victory came hard on the heels of Juddmonte Farms’ Almanzor colt Point Of Fact posting a hollow victory on debut over 1900 metres.

Prepared by Henri Devin, he travelled easily in second spot for jockey Clement Lecoeuvre and, when asked for a serious effort in the closing 300 metres, he coasted away to win as he liked over fellow Almanzor debutant That's My Power.

Point Of Fact is a grandson of the two-time Group One winner Nebraska Tornado, a daughter of the breed shaper Storm Cat and a family to have made its mark in Australasia through the G3 Widden Stakes winner Mallory and the Listed Welcome Stakes winner Sassy ‘N’ Smart.
