Superstock was overdue a change of fortune and the breaks finally went his way at Moonee Valley.

The Mark and Levi Kavanagh-trained son of Tavistock was given a gun ride by Craig Williams and the lightly raced four-year-old comfortably put away his Benchmark 70 rivals over 2040 metres.

Our homebred lobbed along in the trail and angled off the fence before the turn and then lengthened stride for his second victory in 11 appearances, which have also netted a further six minor placings.

“He should have won two runs back and last time we thought he was really unlucky and should have finished closer,” Levi Kavanagh said.

“Craig have him a good, patient ride and he extended well to get the job done.”

Superstock was offered on our behalf by Maluka Thoroughbreds at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale where he was sold to Kavanagh Racing for A$90,000.

He is the first foal of the Savabeel mare Sistabeel, who won on four occasions and is from the family of the South African stakes winners Dance To The Stars and Follow The Stars.

Sistabeel produced a colt by Brutal in 2022 and is in foal to Hello Youmzain.
