Tavago becomes fourth individual Gr.1 winner for Tavistock this season!

1 Apr 2016

Tavago's better than three length victory in today's A$2m Australian Derby-Gr.1 (2400m) extended the remarkable season gun Cambridge Stud stallion Tavistock is having.

The young Montjeu stallion has sired four individual Group One winners this season alone, the others being Tarzino (Victoria Derby & Rosehill Guineas), Volkstok'n'barrell (Otaki WFA Stakes & Air New Zealand Stakes) and Werther (Hong Kong Derby).

Tavago (Tavistock ex Sara Ann, by Stravinsky) and Tarzino (Tavistock ex Zarzino, by Zabeel) were both bred or co-bred by Sir Patrick and Justine Lady Hogan.

What's more, both horses were raised at Cambridge Stud and sold by the farm at New Zealand Bloodstock's Karaka Yearling Sales Series.

Both were bargain buys, Tavago cost $60,000 at the 2014 Karaka Premier Sale while Tarzino was knocked down for $45,000 at the Select Session of that same sale.

Sir Patrick & Justine Lady Hogan are having a golden season as breeders or co-breeders with six Group One races on the board to date; the horses concerned being

* Tavago (Australian Derby-Gr.1)

* Tarzino (Victoria Derby-Gr.1 and Rosehill Guineas-Gr.1)

* Preferment (Turnbull Stakes-Gr.1, Australian Cup-Gr.1 and The BMW-Gr.1)

A 2016 service fee for Tavistock will be announced in the coming weeks.
