Allan Sharrock continues to marvel at the performances of Tavistock’s son Tavi Mac and his never say die attitude.

The New Plymouth trainer has produced him to win nine of his 14 starts, the latest in today’s Listed Levin Stakes.

Tavi Mac is a small and compact fellow and he made light of his topweight for a dominant victory at Otaki.

He was in front early in the run home and comfortably held out Burgundy Belle, who was in receipt of 7kg.

“He’s a freak of nature and he had to lump 60kg,” Sharrock said.

“I’ve never had him better, he’s just flying. He’s the consumate racehorse and I love him to bits.

“He has had three goes on wet tracks, two on Slow and one on the Heavy, and he has won them all. It doesn’t really worry him.

“You just go to the races with him because he is a genuine racehorse.”

Tavi Mac will make his next appearance in the G2 Manawatu Challenge Stakes.

“I have thrown in a nomination for the G1 Thorndon Handicap and the G1 Telegraph as well,” Sharrock said.

Earlier in the day, Cambridge Stud graduate Wononeohwon broke his maiden at just his second start.

Another son of the late Tavistock, he is trained by Johno Benner and Hollie Wynyard.

He was sold at Karaka for $40,000 with the ticket signed by Jen Campin and Phill Cataldo.

He is a son of Sursum Corda, a daughter of Zabeel who won five races and was runner-up in the G1 New Zealand Oaks.
