Keep Alight has a 100 per cent record as a broodmare following the breakthrough success at Riccarton this afternoon of Tavilight.
All seven of the Cambridge Stud mare’s foals to race are now winners and includes Tavistock’s stakes-performed son Midnitemagicman, a brother to Tavilight.
Keep Alight is a half-sister by Keeper to the G1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas winner Danske and the two-time Listed winner Eagle Rhythm.
Closely-related to the G1 New Zealand Oaks winner Midnight Oil, Keep Alight is due to foal any day to Tarzino.
Her latest success story Tavilight has been lightly-tried and followed up a previous fourth with victory today for trainers Michael and Matthew Pitman and rider Michael McNab. The 3-year-old strode to the front 300 metres from home and stayed on strongly.
“Brendan and Jo Lindsay and Henry Plumptre sent him down to us and I really appreciate that. Everything out of the mare has won and this one will get better over a bit more ground,” Michael Pitman said.
