Wononeohwon looks more than capable of making his mark in stronger company following another impressive display at Otaki.

The progressive Cambridge Stud graduate overcame a tardy start to win for the second time in three starts for trainers Johnno Benner and Hollie Wynyard.

Third on debut, he broke his maiden on a heavy track and has now emphasised his versatility with further success on top of the ground.

Wononeohwon improved on the fence after missing the start and, once clear in the straight, he quickly asserted his authority for an impressive win.

The son of Tavistock was purchased at Karaka for $40,000 by part-owner Jen Campin and bloodstock agent Phill Cataldo from the Cambridge Stud draft.

He is a son of the winning Zabeel mare Sursum Corda, who was also runner-up in the G1 New Zealand Oaks.

She is a sister to the Group 1 winners Champagne and St Reims with two-time NZ Horse of the Year Bonneval also a member of this family.
