Tavistock at the Double

Tavistock at the Double14 Feb 2020

Cambridge Stud’s late sire Tavistock made his presence felt today with a winning trans-Tasman double.

Salsamor was successful at Flemington while at Ellerslie the Gr.1 New Zealand Derby hope Vladivostok won in style by 2 lengths in a faster time than Dragon Leap did winning his 2100m race.

Trained by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, Salsamor was a $150,000 Karaka graduate and has now won three times.

The feature name in his immediate pedigree is the Gr.1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas winner Hulastrike.

Vladivostok is trained by Andrew Campbell and was bred by part-owner Tommy Heptinstall.

He is a son of the Soviet Star mare Soviet Lu and the family of the Gr.1 NZ Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes winner Barinka.

Vladivostok is fashioning a tidy record with two wins from six appearances and looks a genuine contender for the Gr.1 New Zealand Derby in two weeks time.
