Tavistock filly eyes Queensland Oaks

Already the sire of the Victoria Derby, Australian Derby and Hong Kong Derby winner this season, blockbusting sire Tavistock looks to now have a genuine Queensland Oaks prospect in Tavi Bay.

Prepared by Henry Dwyer, Tavi Bay (Tavistock ex Bantry Bay, by Viking Ruler) looked a staying filly in the making when winning over 2000m at Caulfield last Saturday and is amongst nominations for the Group One Queensland Oaks scheduled to be run at Eagle Farm on Saturday, 04 June.

A bargain $7,000 buy for Shergar Thoroughbreds Pty Ltd at the 2014 NZB South Island Sale, Tavi Bay has the Melbourne Cup winner Empire Rose in her pedigree.

The weekend of racing also saw Tavistock gain a brand new black type performer with Infantry (ex The Nightingale, by Stravinsky) running second in the Singapore Guineas-Sgp-1 (1600m).

Bred by Sir Patrick and Justine, Lady Hogan, Infantry was sold by Cambridge Stud as a weanling and has had 8 starts in Singapore for 3 wins and 3 seconds.

To complete another excellent weekend of racing for Tavistock, the sire had two winners at the Taranaki meeting at New Plymouth, namely Stocktake & Pacorus.
