First-timer Snazzytavi produced a sizzling display for us on debut at Rotorua where she streeted her rivals over 1400 metres to win in a canter.

She is trained by Graham Richardson and Rogan Norvall, who understandably rate the daughter of the late Tavistock highly.

“Her main goal will be the G1 New Zealand Oaks, although I haven’t discussed it yet with Brendan and Jo and it will be entirely up to them,” Richardson said.

“There’s a lot of three-year-old fillies’ races for her before the Oaks like the Eulogy Stakes and the Royal Stakes.”

Snazzytavi cleared the gates smartly for rider Joe Kamaruddin to sit in second spot to the turn and when asked for a serious effort into the straight she surged clear. Despite racing greenly, she bolted in by 5.5l.

“She was very impressive and I didn’t think she would win so well, she doesn’t know what she’s doing yet, but I do think a lot of her,” Richardson said.

Snazzytavi is out of the Zabeel mare Ritzy Lady, who won six races and showed her staying ability with a victory in the Listed New Zealand St Leger and runner-up finish in the G2 Counties Cup.
