Snazzytavi added to her burgeoning record in fine style at Pukekohe where she beat a competitive special conditions line-up.

Trained by Graham Richardson and Rogan Norvall, our daughter of the late Tavistock produced a terrific performance to claim the Stella Artois Championship Final over 1500 metres.

The four-year-old settled midfield before she was shuffled back, but once she was into the clear in the straight she unwound powerfully.

“That was a big effort and she’s a quality mare,” Richardson said.

“When she gets a bit stronger, she will go over more ground and we’ll be looking for some black type.”

Snazzytavi, who has now won three of her six appearances, was ridden for the first time by Vinnie Colgan.

“When the pace slackened off my horse over-raced a bit, but she was travelling well turning for home and she really pulled away the last bit,” he said.

Snazzytavi was bred by Gordon Cunningham's Suncroft Bloodstock and is out of the Zabeel mare Ritzy Lady, who won six races and showed her staying ability with victory in the Listed New Zealand St Leger and finished runner-up in the G2 Counties Cup.
