Our congratulations go out to Tony and Vicky Rider’s Milan Park and partners with their well-related mare Our Modena, who added another winning strike to her record this afternoon.

The daughter of Tavistock and Zenella was a two-time winner in New Zealand from the stable of Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman before she transferred to Patrick Payne and today at Sandown opened her winning account in Australia over 1300 metres.

Our Modena raced one off the fence in sixth spot before edging closer near the turn and thundered down the outside of the track to win going away by 2l.

“We had a beautiful run and then came out and she was too good. The blinkers definitely improved her from her last start and she was at peak fitness and just kept going,” rider Celina Gaudray said.

Our Modena was bought out of our 2018 draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale with respected agent Bruce Perry signing the ticket at $420,000.

Her dam Zenalla, who last year foaled an Almanzor filly, was a dual winner and runner-up in the G1 Queensland Oaks and was also recently represented by the smart Rotorua winner Miss Ella.

Zenella is a sister to the G3 Premier’s Cup winner Zephyron and a half-sister to the G2 Blazer Stakes winner Forever Loved with the second dam the dual Group 1 winner Tristalove, mother of the G1 Spring Champion Stakes winner and sire Viking Ruler.
