27 Feb 2019Tavistock unveiled another promising 3YO in the shape of the Mick Kent-trained Stocktaka at Sandown yesterday.
Stocktaka was having just his second start, having placed second on debut.
Stocktaka is nominated for the Gr.1 Rosehill Guineas on March 23 and the Gr.1 Australian Derby on April 6.
“I think he’s a bit better than what he just showed then, I know he won but he’s probably better ridden a bit quieter I think. He’s got good ability and he’s a three-year-old and we think he can get a trip so there’s plenty of options if he can make the next step. He’s shown enough at home, he’s still quite raw the horse so we will just see where he takes us but we will just go through our grades for the moment. They get better with age this breed, he’s out of a Centaine mare and he’s still quite a light horse but he’s got enough ability,” said Kent afterwards.
