What Tavi Mac lacks in size, the four-year-old more than makes up for with raw talent and determination.

The son of Tavistock emphasised that at New Plymouth today with a runaway victory to maintain his perfect record.

Tavi Mac settled in midfield and, once clear in the straight, he lengthened stride quickly to demolish his Rating 65 rivals.

“He’s a lovely horse and a bit special to us because he’s not very big,” trainer Allan Sharrock said.

“He was travelling like the winner all the way and he’ll go through the grades.”

Tavi Mac was making his first appearance since his winning debut on the course in May.

“He was quite impressive that day after missing away and he still got home,” Sharrock said.

“He’s a pretty tenacious type, we really like him.”

Bred by Mrs A C & H S McCallum, S A Sharrock & Est Late R J Fleming, Tavi Mac is a son of the Maroof mare Bellaroof, who was successful on five occasions.

She is from the family of the multiple Group One winner Melody Belle.
