It was pleasing to see our farm graduate Con Esperanza get off the mark at his latest appearance in Singapore and hopefully he can now kick on through the grades with that breakthrough victory under his belt.
The Tavistock four-year-old has been taken along quietly by trainer Hideyuki Takaoka for the Big Valley Stable and was a deserved winner over 1600 metres in the hands of Oscar Chavez.
It was a case of good things come to those who wait on Saturday evening at Kranji as Con Esperanza had been placed in all six of his previous appearances, including a couple of runner-up finishes.
He was purchased by Mr Masa Otani out of our 2019 Book 1 draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale at Karaka for $130,000.
Con Esperanza is out of the unraced Encosta De Lago mare Spring Venture, who has a perfect record at stud with all three of her foals to race now successful.
From Cambridge Stud’s fabled Eight Carat family, Spring Venture produced a filly by our resident sire Embellish in 2020.
