Beluga has made a dashing start to his career in Hong Kong and looks set to continue his rise through the grades.

He has won two of his four starts, the latest at Sha Tin on Sunday evening for trainer David Hall.

The promising son of Tavistock was successful over 1000 metres under 60.5kg for rider Zac Purton.

Beluga, who placed in his other two starts, was originally purchased as a yearling at Karaka for $150,000.

He was then reoffered at the Ready to Run Sale where agent John Foote bought him for $400,000.

Beluga is a son of the Written Tycoon mare Prestigious Miss, who was a winner and twice Group-placed.

She is a half-sister to the G3 Manawatu Cup winner Cassini.

Prestigious Miss is a grand-daughter of the G1 Western Australian Oaks winner True Devotion.
