The rise-and-rise of TAVISTOCK

11 Dec 2014

There is no doubt that 2014 will remembered as the calendar year when TAVISTOCK went from being another stallion in the mix to the most talked-about young stallion in New Zealand.

While he gained a Listed Race quinella with his two-year-olds (Avisto & Midnitemagicman in the Great Northern Foal Stakes at Ellerslie in May), the undoubted turning point for the stock of TAVISTOCK was when the first crop turned three-years-old on the first of August.

Avisto quickly added two more early season Listed Races; Volkstock’n’barrell stormed to victory in the Gr.3 Bonecrusher Stakes and Tavy franked a smart maiden win with success in the Listed Trevor Eagle Memorial 3YO.
Meanwhile another four black type performers emerged in the shape of Diamond Valores (Australia), Imperial Lass (Australia), Midnitemagicman and Longchamp.

At production time, TAVISTOCK had four genuine Derby prospects, namely Volkstock’n’barrell, Tavy, Midnitemagicman and Margin Trader.

TAVISTOCK is New Zealand’s Leading Second Season Sire.

TAVISTOCK was fully booked for the 2014 Season and Cambridge Stud now invites submissions of interest for the 2015 Season.
