Thorn Park mare stretches perfect record

Thorn Park mare stretches perfect record28 Jul 2023

Glamorous Girl was a gifted performer on the track and our daughter of Thorn Park continues to star through the second phase of her career.

Successful in the G3 Desert Gold Stakes and a multiple black-type placegetter, she has a 100 percent record at stud with all eight of her foals to race successful and includes multiple Australian winners Niffler and Travest.

Glamorous Girl’s latest offspring to score is our homebred Jackman following his maiden victory over 1600 metres on the all-weather track at Riccarton.

It wasn’t without drama and required and an outstanding display of skill and balance from rider Courtney Barnes after her saddle slipped in the straight.

The Paul Harris-trained Jackman settled toward the back of the field before picking up ground across the top and, despite her difficulties in the run home, Barnes was able to drive the son of Tavistock over the line for his first victory from a handful of appearances.

The three-year-old began his career with our Karaka trainer Lance Noble before we decided he would be better placed in the South Island, which has proved the case and congratulations to his new ownership group.

Jackman’s dam Glamorous Girl, a half-sister to the Listed Pegasus Stakes winner So Elusive, has a weanling son of Embellish and is in foal to Sword Of State.
