10 Jun 2023Whiskey Lies delivered a timely victory for our exciting young stallion Embellish when he produced a gallant display to win at Ruakaka.
The Kenny Rae and Krystal Williams-trained colt was resuming after an unplaced run in the spring when he was caught five wide on debut and understandably weakened out.
Bred by the Hawkins family’s Wentwood Grange, Whiskey Lies was taken straight to the front on his home track by Jasmine Fawcett and rallied strongly to score over 1200 metres.
He is the third winner for Embellish from limited racetrack representation and we will be offering a quality representation of the Group 1-winning son of Savabeel at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Weanling Sale.
Our Karaka draft at next Friday’s auction is made up of a colt (Lot 130) and four fillies (Lots 29, 74, 87, 140).
We will also present youngsters by Almanzor (Lots 37, 91, 100), Flying Artie (Lot 149), Frosted (Lot 138), Impending (Lot 43), Reliable Man (Lot 166) and Tivaci (Lot 21).
