Cambridge Stud yearling graduate Turn The Ace displayed his talent and toughness with a hard fought win in the Listed Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre 2YO Stakes at Te Rapa.

The son of Turn Me Loose was backing up just seven days after scoring a debut win at the same venue for trainers Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman. Despite the short back up Turn The Ace was able to outpoint the previously unbeaten Rangi Toa for a gutsy short head victory.

“We weren’t too sure about backing him up after his win last week, but he did really well, so we rolled the dice and got the result we were looking for," Forsman told NZ Racing Desk.

“It was a super win, from a very tough horse, who I think is going to thrive with some time off now before we look at a three-year-old campaign.”

Forsman purchased Turn The Ace for $30,000 from the Cambridge Stud Book 1 draft at the 2020 New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sale and he races for a syndicate which includes his parents.

Turn The Ace was offered on behalf of breeders The Sunlight Trust and is out of their Lonhro mare Freasoes, a grandaughter of Gr.1 winning two-year-old Shaybisc.
