Dear Demi (Dehere ex Shirley, by Zabeel) and Sir Moments (Choisir ex Colourful Moment, by Zabeel) continued Zabeel’s fantastic season as a broodmare sire when successful in stakes races at Doomben on Saturday.
Dear Demi won the Doomben Roses-Gr.3 (2000m) for trainer Clarry Conners while Sir Moments broke his maiden status in style when taking out the Dalrello Stakes-LR (1200m).
It’s been a spectacular season in Australia for top-echelon performers from Zabeel mares. The Super Sire leads the Australian Broodmare Sire Premiership from Danehill by more than A$3m. Ocean Park (5 x Gr.1 wins this season) and It’s a Dundeel (4 x Gr.1 wins this season) have been his star performers, though it’s worth noting that Zabeel is the dam sire of 13 individual black type winners in Australia this season alone. Collectively that group of horses has won 24 Group or Listed races since 01 August 2012.
For the record, Zabeel also leads the New Zealand Broodmare Sire Premiership.
