Leading jockey Jamie Kah made a special trip to Echuca to ride our yearling graduate Shambo and the two-year-old ensured Kah's sole ride was a winning one.

Despite showing signs of greenness the Clayton Douglas trained gelding was too good for his ten rivals and landed his first win from just his second start, impressing his rider in the process.

"I think he's going to love a bit further this horse," Kah said.

"He'll take a lot of benefit out of coming here. He's always showed talent but he's doing it on raw ability at the moment.

"Look for this horse next prep, I think he'll be a really nice horse."

Shambo was bred by Marylee Trivett's Banchory Thoroughbreds and offered as part of our 2021 New Zealand Bloodstock yearling draft at Karaka.

The son of Shamexpress and Rip Van Winkle mare Baubo was purchased by Glen Harvey Racing for $50,000 before being reoffered as a two-year-old by the Harvey's Ascot Farm and selling to Bradlee Park and Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock for $200,000.
