Under My Spell weaves Ballarat magic

Under My Spell weaves Ballarat magic5 Aug 2021

Pierro mare Under My Spell added to her tidy record with a track record performance on the synthetic track this afternoon at Ballarat.

The five-year-old has been patiently handled by trainer Nigel Blackiston and has now won three of her 10 starts and two of her last three appearances.

Under My Spell was quickly into stride for apprentice Alana Kelly to settle in third spot on the fence and, once into the clear in the straight, she let down strongly and was too strong in the closing 100 metres. Her time of 1:30.27 lowered the previous best recorded over 1500 metres at Ballarat.

She was a AU$330,000 purchase at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale where she was offered by Arrowfield Stud.

A half-sister to a quartet of winners, Under My Spell is a daughter of the Hussonet mare Illusionary who was twice successful and a half-sister to the G2 Bill Stutt Stakes winner Chase The Rainbow and the G2 Karrakatta Plate winner Ms Funovits.
