Vengeance Of Rain No. 1 In Hong Kong

The six-time Group 1 winner, Vengeance Of Rain (NZ) (Zabeel x Danelagh by Danehill), is currently the highest-rated horse racing in Hong Kong and is the 10
th equal best galloper in the world.


Second in last weekend's Group 1 HK$14 million Audemars Piguet  QEII Cup at Sha Tin and the winner of the US$5 million Dubai Sheema Classic (2400m) at his previous start, Vengeance Of Rain (NZ) was born and reared at Cambridge Stud in New Zealand.


 As at May 3 2007,  Vengeance Of Rain (NZ) is rated the leading thoroughbred in Hong Kong with a rating of 122.


 On the world rankings Vengeance Of Rain (NZ) is rated 10 equal with a rating of 122 which makes him the highest-rated  Australasian-bred horse of the 2006/07 season.


 Vengeance Of Rain (NZ) has won 10 of his 23 starts to date stake-earnings currently stand at $NZ11.9 million. This places him second only to champion mare Sunline (NZ) in terms of the highest total of stakes won by a New Zealand-bred horse.


Vengeance Of Rain (NZ) is scheduled to start in the Group 1 Champions and Chater Cup (2400m) in Hong Kong on June 3.


 On the world rankings Vengeance Of Rein (NZ) is rated 10 equal with a rating of 122 which makes the David Ferraris-trained six-year-old the highest-rated  Australasian-bred horse of the 2006/07 season.


Vengeance Of Rain (NZ) is one of four Group 1 winners sired in the 2006/07 racing season by his sire, Zabeel (NZ) (Sir Tristram x Lady Giselle) who stands at Cambridge Stud. The others have been Efficient (NZ), Fiumicino (NZ) and Gallic (NZ).


There are three other NZ-bred horses currently rated in the top 10 in Hong Kong.


These are Armada (NZ), Best Gift (NZ) and last Sunday's Group 1 Hong Kong Champions Mile winner Able One (NZ). They are rated 120, 118 and 116 respectively.
