Virgo lands another win for Godolphin28 Aug 2021

High-priced Cambridge Stud graduate Virgo showed significant improvement on her resuming run to double her winning tally at Wyong this afternoon.

The daughter of Zoustar had finished fourth when resuming off a six-month break at Goulburn earlier this month and the benefit of that outing was apparent when the James Cummings-trained mare was a second-up winner over 1000 metres.

Virgo was purchased from the draft of breeder Cambridge Stud at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale in 2019 by Godolphin for $600,000. She is out of Imanana, a winning daughter of More Than Ready, who was a $370,000 Karaka buy for Brendan and Jo Lindsay.

Imanana’s dam is the G1 Railway Handicap winner Imananabaa and also the family of the G1 Robert Sangster Stakes winner Rostova. She in turn produced the G2 Percy Sykes Stakes winner and G1 Manikato Stakes placegetter Anaheed.

Imanana foaled a filly by Brazen Beau in 2020 and is due to foal this season to Almanzor.
