Volkstok'n'barrell looks an emerging star for Tavistock

Having only his second start today, first crop Tavistock gelding Volkstock'n'barrell created quite an impression at Ruakaka.

Sent to the lead by Matt Cameron, the three-year-old had no piece in front, but kicked stylishly at the top of the straight to record a comfortable victory and was being eased down at the post.

Volkstock'n'barrell beat Vavasour today, a Redoute's Choice 3YO filly with a big reputation.

Trained on the course by Dean and Donna Logan, Volkstock'n'barrell continues the terrific start Tavistock has made to the new season.

A week ago his first-crop daughter Avisto won her second black type race when successful in the Listed O'Leary Stakes at Wanganui.

Meanwhile Tavistock's progeny have been performing with distinction in Australia, with Diamond Valores being twice a winner and placed second from three outings.

Tavistock, by Montjeu, stands at a fee of $7,000 + gst (LFG).
