VRC Oaks Winner From Stravinsky Mare

3 Nov 2011

Yesterday’s nine length winner of the Victoria Oaks-Gr.1, Mosheen, is from a Stravinsky mare.

Her dam, Sumehra (bred by Sir Patrick & Justine, Lady Hogan), was a winner in Sydney and is a half-sister to the black type winners Lucky Owners (HK Derby) and Miss Power Bird (LR winner).  This is the immediate family of the champion Zabeel horse Might and Power.

Mosheen becomes the second Group One winner from a Stravinsky mare.  The other is Rip Van Winkle, the multiple Group One-winning son of Galileo who is owned by Coolmore Stud and shuttles to NZ’s Windsor Park Stud.

According to figures provided by Arion Pedigrees (www.arion.co.nz), Stravinsky is the damsire of 118 winners worldwide.
