Cambridge Stud has added a well-credentialled pair of European-bred mares to its broodmare band.
They were sourced at this week’s Tattersalls December Sale and secured by Queensland agent John Foote.
The first purchase was the Irish-bred Semillon, an unraced daughter of the English and Irish Derby winner Australia (pictured)
Secured for $247,000, she is a half-sister to stakes winner Bahama and she has produced Group Three winners Bartaba and Akihiro.
It’s also the family of the former European Horse of the Year Goldikova, winner of a stunning 14 Group One titles.
Also headed to Cambridge is Elisheba, also a daughter of Australia, who was purchased for $190,000.
She was a winner from a handful of starts and is a half-sister to the Gr.2 Santa Anita San Marcos Stakes winner Platinum Warrior.
Their dam is the Gr.2 Prix de Sandringham winner and Gr.1 Sun Chariot Stakes placegetter Laugh Out Loud.
This is the family of the European Group One winners Mekhtaal, Germance and White Muzzle.
Another top-flight winner on the pedigree page is Almutawakel, who sired the Gr.1 New Zealand Derby winner Wahid.
