Excelida continued her pleasing progression through the ranks in Victoria with further success on Easter Monday.

Against older opposition, the Cambridge Stud-raced filly produced a clinical display to win over 1300 metres at Ladbrokes Park.

Excelida is prepared at Lindsay Park and has now been successful three times in 10 starts and has also been stakes placed.

The ease of her win on Monday in the hands of Damien Oliver strongly suggested she is working toward black type success.

Excelida was a AUD$460,000 Easter Yearling Sale purchase from Trelawney Stud, who bred her in partnership with Di and John Struthers.

She is by Exceed and Excel and out of the Iffraaj mare Lady Sayyida. Lady Sayyida is a half-sister to the Gr.1 Cox Plate winner sire Ocean Park and to the dam of the dual top-flight winner and sire Grunt.

Further back in the pedigree is the multiple champion stallion O’Reilly, making Excelida a future valuable addition to the Cambridge Stud broodmare band in the future.
