Ima Brazen One has a rich and speedy pedigree and she again put that to winning use at Otaki where she blitzed her age group rivals over 1100 metres.

The three-year-old daughter of Brazen Beau was far too slick for her opposition in the hands of Craig Grylls to add to her burgeoning record.

“She’s got a heap of ability and she’s still got to learn to harness it,” trainer Mike Breslin said of our home-bred filly.

“She’s a work in progress and it’s quite good to see her win like that when she’s not doing things 100 percent right.”

Ima Brazen One showed gate speed to cross and lead from the outside barrier and turned on the afterburners 250 metres from home to bolt home by 3.3l.

“Once she learns to relax, I can see her getting 1600 metres further down the track,” Breslin said.

Ima Brazen One’s sole defeat in three appearances came when fifth at Trentham in her resuming run earlier this month.

“She was above herself and was just too fresh,” Breslin said.

He purchased the filly out of our class of 2022 at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale for $100,000.

A half-sister to multiple Australian winner Virgo, Ima Brazen One is a daughter of the winning More Than Ready mare Imanana who foaled a colt by Sword Of State last season and is back in foal to our Group 1-winning son of Snitzel.
