Silver Lake added performance to her rich international pedigree at Trentham this afternoon.

The Cambridge Stud-bred and raced mare posted an overdue and deserved breakthrough victory when successful over 1200 metres under premiership leading jockey Danielle Johnson.

The four-year-old began her training with Lance Noble before transferring to Jamie Richards and had placed in four of her previous six outings prior to her maiden win.

“She was good today and key to her is possibly racing left-handed,” Richards said.

“We’d waited for the right race. She drew wide so we scratched on Matamata Cup Day (10 Oct.) and the next meeting had a wet track. Although it was a long way to go for a Maiden race, it did look a nice option for her.

“She drew well, had a good jockey on, who was able to find the front and dictate and although she’d never led before she still won with authority."

Silver Lake is a daughter of the Galileo mare Silver Blossom, who also has an Almanzor filly headed for Book 1 at Karaka next year.

Silver Blossom, who was sourced in England by agent John Foote, is a half-sister Silk Blossom, who numbered the G2 York Lowther Stakes among her three successes.
