Zoustar filly Zouzarella made a stylish debut at Moonee Valley this afternoon to add momentum to her spring campaign that has a Group 1 end goal.

The Cambridge Stud-owned three-year-old proved superior to her age group rivals over 1200 metres when she came from back in the field under jockey Brett Prebble.

They angled widest at the top of the straight and finished resolutely to win with an effort that confirmed she will be aiming for top honours this preparation.

“It was a really good performance and good experience. We spoke to Brett pre-race and didn’t want her to have a real gut buster and to let her find her feet and she hit the line,” co-trainer Sam Freedman said.

“We didn’t have any races planned after today, but we will start to map a path toward the G1 Thousand Guineas, that will be her ultimate goal.

“The Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes in a couple of weeks is an option. She has to keep improving as the fillies she will come up against will get better and better, but she has made a really good start. She’s a very promising horse.”

Zouzarella was offered at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by Glastonbury Farms and secured by Cambridge Stud for $250,000. The filly is a daughter of Zazparella, who was successful on six occasions and comes from the international family of the G1 Italian Oaks winner Zabarella.
