For the first time in his long and illustrious stud career, Zabeel has reached the top of the Australian Broodmare Sire list.
Current figures courtesy of Arion Pedigrees (www.arion.co.nz) reveal that Zabeel is the sire of the dam of 73 individual winners in Australia so far this season. Collectively this group of horses has won 102 races for earnings of A$3,876,415.
Anacheeva, the Caulfield Guineas-Gr.1 winner of 2010, is from a Zabeel mare and is one of six individual black type winners from Zabeel mares so far this season in Australia.
With 14 Dewar Awards (Australasian Premiership), 2 Australian Premierships and 4 New Zealand Premierships to his credit, it was only a matter of time before Zabeel would start to dominate in the broodmare sire role. Latest figures reveal that he is the sire of the dam of 692 winners worldwide, 65 of which are black type winners.
To date Zabeel mares have produced 12 Group One winners; namely Darci Brahma, Samantha Miss, Faint Perfume, Headturner, Upsetthym, Zabeat, Purple, Sarrera, Cats Fun, Art Success, Apercu and Anacheeva.
Zabeel will be represented by 31 yearlings at the upcoming New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Premier Sale.
