For the past two seasons straight Zabeel has been Australia’s Champion Broodmare Sire. He’s quickly re-established his dominance this season and within the first month of the new term he’s back leading the Broodmare Sire Premiership in Australia.
According to figures supplied today by Arion Pedigrees (www.arion.co.nz), Zabeel is already the damsire of 26 individual winners in Australia this season. The list includes Saturday’s runaway Memsie Stakes-Gr.1 winner Atlantic Jewel.
Another black type winner from a Zabeel mare in Australia so far this season is War, winner of the ATC Up and Coming Stakes-Gr.3.
Zabeel has also been Champion Broodmare Sire in New Zealand for the past two seasons. Again, he’s back in the frame and currently sits in second position behind Generous (damsire of Gr.1 Makfi Stakes winner Survived).
Zabeel is the damsire of 8 individual winners in New Zealand so far this season. It’s interesting to note that Full of Spirit, who chased Survived home in the Makfi Stakes, is from a Zabeel mare.
