15 Oct 2012

Prized Gem, who won a Kelt Capital Stakes-Gr.1 and Brisbane Cup-Gr.1, produced her seventh foal at Cambridge Stud yesterday, a filly by Zabeel.

The new-born filly is a half-sister to Nom du Jeu (Montjeu), the Australian Derby-Gr.1 winner of 2008 who now stands at Fairdale Stud and has oldest crop yearlings.  Another black type winner from Prized Gem is Jeu de Cartes (Stravinsky), the recent winner of the CJC Spring Classic-LR at Riccarton Park.

Zabeel currently leads both the Australian Broodmare Sire Premiership and the New Zealand Broodmare Sire Premiership, titles he took out for the first time last season.

Zabeel is the damsire of 20 individual Group One winners.  This season alone stock from his daughters have won 4 Group One races, with Ocean Park winning the Makfi Stakes, Underwood Stakes and Caulfield Stakes, while It’s a Dundeel has won the Spring Champion Stakes.
