Zabeel maintains lead in Dewar battle

The ding-dong battle between Zabeel and Savabeel for Dewar Award honours continued at Eagle Farm on Saturday with Zabeel landing the Brisbane Cup-Gr.2 with Lights of Heaven and Savabeel siring the Queensland Derby-Gr.1 hero Brambles.

 

According to figures released today by Arion Pedigrees, Zabeel maintains his lead in the Dewar Stallion Trophy with $5,014,086 in earnings with Savabeel ($4,836,475) second and Pins ($4,101,489) in third position.

 

Lights of Heaven (Zabeel ex I’m in Heaven, by Volksraad) was dominant in the Brisbane Cup and has now won three Group Two races, the other two being the BRC Eagle Farm Cup-Gr.2 and the Mooneey Valley Fillies Classic-Gr.2.  At three years she was a Group One winner of the SAJC Schweppes Oaks.

 

For the record, Zabeel currently leads three Premierships this season
