In winning the Hobart Cup-Gr.3 and the Launceston Cup-Gr.3 during the last fornight, Epingle (Pins ex Etoile du Nord, by Zabeel) has provided a A$270,000 prize money injection towards Zabeel's bid to win his third-straight Australian Broodmare Sire Premiership.
According to figures provied today by Arion Pedigrees, Zabeel leads the Australian damsire list with A$7,453,843 in progeny earnings, well clear of arch-rival Danehill in second position while Encosta de Lago sits in third spot.
Zabeel is the sire-of-the-dams of 133 individual winners in Australia alone so far this season. This group has won 185 races including 12 at black type level. The leading earner this season from a Zabeel mare is Atlantic Jewel, winner of the Caulfield Stakes and Memsie Stakes in the spring.
