Group One contender Chambord stretched his legs between races at Matamata on Friday.
The Sir Patrick and Justine, Lady Hogan-bred Zabeel seven-year-old will bit to become his sire's first Group One 1200m winner when he contests Saturday's JR & N Berkett Telegraph (1200m) at Trentham.
He galloped 1000m in company with stablemate Heroic Valour in 58.8 with the closing 600 in 33.5.
“They were doing it nicely and both are really finding the line in their races,” said Opie Bosson, who was aboard Heroic Valour.
Michael McNab will take the reins in Saturday's sprint feature, billed as one of the races of the season.
