Super Sire Zabeel has a remarkable record in The BMW at Rosehill Gardens, a race which is contested tomorrow in Sydney for a purse of A$2.25m.

Four of the last sixteen running’s of the famous weight-for-age feature have been won by the stock of Zabeel; namely Octagonal (1996 & 1997), Might and Power (1998) and Fiumicino (2009).

Tomorrow Maluckyday (Zabeel ex Natalie Wood, by Yachtie) will look to add to Zabeel’s record in this year’s running of The BMW.  The six-year-old will be saddled up by Team Hawkes, who have prepared him so far for a record of 5 wins, 6 placings and A$1,361,600 in prize money.

A Group Three and Listed Race winner to date, Maluckyday will be looking to become Zabeel’s 43rd individual Group One winner when he tackles tomorrow’s rich race.  The New Zealand-bred stayer has been placed at the elite level of competition, running second in the 2010 Melbourne Cup behind Americain, while he was third in the Ranvet Stakes two weeks ago behind Foreteller and Fiveandahalfstar, horses he faces again tomorrow.
