Zabeels A$1.3m seller at Sydney

The commercial appeal of Cambridge Stud's super sire Zabeel was clearly evident at this week's Sydney Easter Yearling Sale.

Zabeel's top seller was the filly from Gin Player consigned by Rich Hill Stud, which fetched A$1.3m to the bid of Lakeview Resources of Victoria.  The filly is a half-sister to the dual Group One-winning racemare Zarita.  She is also a half-sister to Joy and Fun, the Hong Kong-trained gelding who won a Group 3 event recently on Dubai World Cup Day.

Zabeel had 14 yearlings catalogued at Sydney.  Two were withdrawn, two were passed in and the ten to sell averaged A$315,000.

Zabeel will be represented by Zabrasive (NZ) in Saturday's Australian Derby-Gr.1 at Royal Randwick.  The John O'Shea-trained horse will bid to become the fifth horse by Zabeel to win the 3YO Classic.  Others by Zabeel to win the Australian Derby are Fiumicino, Don Eduardo, Sky Heights and Octagonal.
